"Good sons! That Dharma master is a bodhisattva of the practice-gotra, whether an upāsaka or upāsikā living at home, or a monk or nun who has gone forth, who cultivates the ten virtues and contemplates their own body: earth, water, fire, wind, space, and consciousness, each part being impure. They further contemplate the fourteen faculties—namely, the five sensory faculties, the five feelings, male, female, mind, and life-faculty—as having immeasurable faults and transgressions; they then generate the unexcelled bodhicitta, and constantly cultivate the contemplation that in the three realms all thoughts from moment to moment are impure, thereby attaining the contemplation gateway of the patience of impurity. Abiding in the house of the Buddha, they cultivate the six harmonies and reverences—namely, the three karmas, sharing the same precepts, sharing the same views, and sharing the same study—and practice the path of the eighty-four thousand pāramitās."
