Regarding the four locations: first, Vulture Peak at Rājagṛha; second, the Jetavana Anāthapiṇḍada-ārāma in Śrāvastī; third, the palace of the Paranirmitavaśavartin devas in the hall of the jewel treasury of maṇi jewels; fourth, beside the White Heron Pool in the Bamboo Grove Park at Rājagṛha, where he taught the perfection of wisdom. Regarding the sixteen assemblies: they are as recorded in the separate record. However, dividing the sixteen assemblies now, there are three sections: the first five assemblies, from extensive to abridged, all explain the six perfections; although the texts are extensive or abridged, the meaning has no breadth or narrowness. Therefore, Bodhisattva Nāgārjuna composed the Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa based on the second section. The next five assemblies were consequently difficult to definitively resolve and explain. The final six assemblies, in their proper order, explain their six broad teachings. Yet, as for why the sixteen assemblies do not include this single text: it is because the Tathāgata expounds teachings differently according to the capacities of beings.
