Commentary: Third, one and a half verses explaining the Coronation stage. The text has three parts: first, designating the name and matching it to the stage; next, the extent of the transformation realm; and finally, revealing the distinct practice of the bhūmi. This is the first. Regarding 'Coronation' (abhiṣeka), the twenty-seventh fascicle of the *Avataṃsaka-sūtra* states, 'Just as the crown prince of a cakravartin accomplishes the marks of kingship, taking the water of the four great oceans and pouring it onto the prince’s head, he is then named a crowned great king. The bodhisattva is likewise: when receiving the office, all Buddhas consecrate this bodhisattva’s head with the water of wisdom, naming him a crowned Dharma King. This is termed the bodhisattva entering the office-bhūmi of great wisdom.'
