Commentary: From here below, second, there are five verses that separately explain faith patience. The text has four sections: first, there are two verses explaining the Good Awakening Stage; second, there is one verse clarifying the Stage of Freedom and Mastery; third, there is one verse explaining the Stage of Radiant Wisdom; fourth, there is one verse on the demarcations of severing obstacles. This is the first section. The text has seven divisions: 1. Indicating the name and assigning the stage; 2. Revealing the specific practice of the bhūmi; 3. The breadth or narrowness of the transformed lands; 4. Discerning the ascent of the One Vehicle; 5. Explaining the distinct names of the bhūmi; 6. Revealing the endowment of virtues; 7. Entering the principle and remaining unmoving. This is the first: indicating the name and assigning the stage. That is, initially awakening to the twofold emptiness of persons and phenomena, the signless path of seeing, the three minds, and so forth; hence it is called "Good Awakening." The assignment of the stage is as above.
