問：初一地者，何非習種性耶？答：此明十王所行化利，三賢已辨故此不論。從此第二明十王位。於中分十，一一地中皆分為五：一居土廣狹、二配屬王位、三修法多少、四辨修勝行、五明所利生。初地五中，且初第一居土廣狹。

Question: Why is 'the first bhūmi' not the lineage of acquired nature? Answer: This clarifies the transformation and benefit practiced by the ten kings; the three stages of the worthy have already been explained, so they are not discussed here. From here, the second part clarifies the stages of the ten kings. Within this it is divided into ten; in each and every bhūmi it is divided into five: first, the extent of the land dwelled in; second, assignment to a royal stage; third, the quantity of dharmas cultivated; fourth, distinguishing the cultivation of superior practices; fifth, clarifying the sentient beings benefited. Among the five of the first bhūmi, first is the extent of the land dwelled in.
