Saṃsāra of portions and limits is called suffering; afflictions and karmas with outflows are called origination; analytical cessation is called cessation; the wisdom category of pudgala-nairātmya is called the path: coarsely and visibly provisionally established, known by shallow wisdom, these are called the established truths. Saṃsāra of inconceivable transformation is called suffering; the cognitive obscuration and pure conceptual karma are called origination; innately pure and non-abiding nirvāṇa is called cessation; the wisdom category of dharma-nairātmya is called the path: subtle, concealed, difficult to know, not a coarse and shallow sphere, these are called the unestablished truths. In a combined explanation: all oppressive states with outflows are suffering; inducing future existence is origination, hence indeterminate dharmas are none of them the truth of origination—this briefly states the fruit and cause of saṃsāra. The four kinds of nirvāṇa are called cessation; pure saṃskṛta dharmas that serve as the path to realize cessation are called the path—this briefly states the fruit and cause of transcendence. Just as a physician knows the illness, the cause of the illness, the elimination of the illness, and the method of elimination, contemplating the suffering of saṃsāra, the cause of suffering, the cessation of suffering, and the method of cessation is also like this. Only the noble ones know the reality, hence they are called noble truths. Alternatively, simply observing the suchness of the twofold emptiness without making distinct contemplations is called unestablished. Contemplating the four truths from afar, each has four aspects, namely: impermanence, suffering, emptiness, non-self; cause, origination, arising, condition; cessation, tranquility, excellence, escape; path, correctness, practice, release. Through the aspects of the truth of suffering, one can eliminate the four inversions; hence there are general and specific aspects, serving as the gateway to enter the real.
