"Inversion" refers to the seven inversions: first, thought; second, view; third, mind; fourth, taking the impermanent to be permanent; fifth, taking suffering to be pleasure; sixth, taking the impure to be pure; and seventh, taking the non-self to be self. Distinguishing through false thought with respect to the latter four is called thought inversion; approval, aspiration, establishment, and attachment are called view inversion; mind inversion refers to the defilements. This has three [aspects]: first, the root, which is delusion; second, the intrinsic nature, which is a portion of extreme view, attachment to rules and rituals, attachment to views, as well as greed and satkāya-dṛṣṭi; third, the outflow, which refers to the remaining defilements.
