Now, speaking of form and emptiness as mutually revealing is done to make the meaning clearer and shatter doubts and grasps. Previously it was said that Avalokiteśvara taught how to temper the mind; now speaking of form, emptiness, and so forth causes the elimination of four points. First: the narrow and inferior mental activity of the two vehicles, finding joy [in cessation] and revulsion [for saṃsāra], taking no pleasure in benefiting others. Second: inverted speculation and the arising of doubt regarding the Mahāyāna. Third: regarding hearing, contemplating, and the like, speaking of 'I can do so,' which is various grasps of phenomena. Fourth: manifestly establishing the form of skeletons and the like, up to bodhi, clinging to them with discrimination. Now, speaking of form and so forth being not different and identical to emptiness causes one to abandon the inferior mental activity of the two vehicles and the like, attaining non-discrimination and accomplishing supramundane practice.
