"The universal Buddha-world shook in six ways" is the fourth auspicious sign. "Universal" means that all worlds of the Buddha that had the conditions to resonate shook. The great earth is always tranquil but now suddenly shook; this is an extraordinary event to clarify the meaning. Practitioners of the three vehicles individually had six kinds of attachments: attaching to three causes and three fruits, asserting that they are definitely, definitely not the same. This startled and shook their firmly attached minds. Another interpretation is that the "six kinds" at that time refers to stirring the multitudes, so that sentient beings of the six destinies all attain Buddhahood.
