1.43

今且就初眾中自有六段：第一先談人類、第二稱眾數、第三明階位位登無學、第四歎德、第五列名、第六「如是」下即釋疑結句也。今言「與大比丘眾」者，此是第一，明其是出家丈夫之類也。

Now, within this first assembly there are naturally six sections: first, discussing the class of persons; second, stating the assembly's number; third, clarifying the stage, showing that their stage attained that of the non-learner; fourth, praising their virtues; fifth, listing their names; and sixth, from "such as" onward, resolving doubts and concluding the passage. Now, saying "together with the great assembly of monks" is the first, clarifying that they belong to the class of renunciant men.
