問者言：「何故不得羅漢是類、比丘是位耶？」解釋者言：「所言位者，本據得果報處，今云羅漢，此則位居極果。何異初地二地之位？但菩薩心行長廣唯製因位，聲聞情意狹劣唯製果位，此處為異也。」

The questioner asks: "Why cannot arhat be the class and monk be the stage?" The commentator explains: "What is called 'stage' is fundamentally based on the place where the fruit and retribution are attained. Now, speaking of arhat, this stage resides in the ultimate fruition. How is it different from the stages of the first ground or second ground? It is just that the mind and practice of a bodhisattva are vast and broad, so only causal stages are established, whereas the sentiments of a śrāvaka are narrow and inferior, so only fruition stages are established; herein lies the difference."
