1.65

「畢陵伽波蹉」者，亦是外國語，此間言餘習比丘，罵恒水神事也。諸比丘問佛，佛說因緣，謂昔五百世中，常作獄卒，既得羅漢猶有餘習也。

"Pilindavatsa" is also a foreign word, called here the "residual habit monk", which concerns his scolding of the goddess of the Ganges River. When the monks asked the Buddha, the Buddha explained the causes and conditions, stating that across five hundred lifetimes in the past, he had constantly been a hell warden; having attained arhatship, he still retained residual habits.
