From "At that time the sons, knowing their father was sitting comfortably" downwards, there are three verses of gāthās versifying the seventh parable of the sons seeking carts, which clarifies that the persons of the three vehicles seek their fruitions. Within these three verses there are inherently four stages: half a verse clarifies the time of seeking the carts; one verse directly versifies seeking the carts; one verse clarifies and versifies the Tathāgata's words promising the carts at that time; and half a verse concludes and versifies seeking the carts. Now, this half-verse from "At that time the sons, knowing their father was sitting comfortably" onwards is the first, which first clarifies the time of seeking the carts. It is merely the time of knowing their father sat comfortably; in internal application it clarifies that the Tathāgata saw the capacity of sentient beings for the Great Vehicle arising, which accorded with the Tathāgata's original intent; hence it says "sat comfortably." The one verse from "All went to their father's place" downwards is the second, which directly versifies the above seeking of the carts. The one verse "As previously promised" is the third, which directly versifies the Tathāgata's words promising the carts at that time. The half-verse below "Now is precisely the time" is the fourth, which concludes and versifies seeking the carts.
