"If you are able to believe and accept these words, all of you will attain the Buddha Way": from here on there are four lines of verse, which versify the application of the eighth parable, the bestowal of the great cart. However, in the direct application of the eighth parable above, it was retroactively divided into six stages, yet it only applied five stages and did not apply the sixth stage. Now, these four lines of verse are divided into two sections. First, within this one line of verse, it versifies the application of two stages: namely, the aforementioned "All those sentient beings who escape the three realms are all given the dhyāna concentrations, liberations, and so forth of the Buddhas," which is the meaning of the impartiality of mind and the equality of the bestowed objects. The three lines from "This vehicle is subtle, pure, and supreme" onward versify the application of the aforementioned vast great cart, as stated above: "They are all of one characteristic and one type, praised by the sages, and capable of generating pure, subtle, and supreme joy." Therefore, these four lines only succeed in versifying three stages.
