「爾時導師知此人眾」，此下是第四知止息譬，譬上大乘機發，言「諸比丘如來自知涅槃時到」下，是亦遠是〈方便品〉中「我見佛子等」大乘機發之義也。

From "At that time the guide, knowing that this multitude..." onwards is the fourth parable, knowing of the rest and cessation. This illustrates the arising of the capacity for the Great Vehicle above, where it states: "Monks, the Tathāgata himself knows that the time for nirvāṇa has arrived" and so forth; this also distantly corresponds to the meaning of the arising of the capacity for the Great Vehicle in the "Chapter on Skilful Means," [namely], "I see the Buddha's sons and others."
