The commentator says: "Among the spheres of the three threes illuminated by the expedient knowledge, the essential ones are the three teachings; practitioners who advance must rely on verbal teachings before they can enter the Path; hence it says 'all dharmas.' The teachings of the three vehicles are not one; hence it says 'all dharmas.' As for 'real aspect,' among the four ones it is the one principle; alike being the four ones, the one principle is the most essential, which is why it is specifically illuminated. But specifically illuminating the three teachings is the meaning of opening the gate of skilful means; specifically illuminating the one principle is the meaning of showing the real aspect. How is this known? In the explanation below, cause and effect are cited to explain it; one should know that cause and effect are simply the one principle."
