自行以智德為宗，斷德為用，若化他、自行，智斷俱為宗，化他，智斷俱為用。
In one's own practice, the virtue of wisdom is the central purport and the virtue of severing is the function. If both converting others and one's own practice [are considered], wisdom and severing are both the central purport; in converting others, wisdom and severing are both the function.
