若方等教半滿相對，是生蘇教，別論是第三時，通論亦至於後。何者？〈陀羅尼〉云：先於王舍城授諸聲聞記，今復於舍衛國祇陀林中，復授聲聞記。昔於波羅柰授聲聞記，身子云：世尊不虛，所言真實，故能第二、第三，授我等記。故知方等至法華後。

As for the Vaipulya teaching with half and full words set in opposition, this is the raw-butter teaching; discussed specifically it is the third period, but discussed generally it also extends to the end. How so? The Dhāraṇī chapter says: previously vyākaraṇa was bestowed on all śrāvakas in Rājagṛha, and now again in the Jeta Grove in Śrāvastī, vyākaraṇa is bestowed once more on the śrāvakas. Formerly in Vārāṇasī vyākaraṇa was bestowed on śrāvakas, and Śāriputra said: 'The World-Honoured One is not false; his words are true and real; hence he is able for a second and third time to bestow vyākaraṇa on us.' Therefore we know that the Vaipulya extends to after the Lotus Sūtra.
