10.12

一者、虎丘山岌師，述頓與不定，不殊前舊。漸更為三：十二年前明三藏，見有得道，名有相教；十二年後齊至法華，明見空得道，名無相教；最後雙林，明一切眾生佛性、闡提作佛，明常住教也。

First, Master Ji of Mount Huqiu explained the sudden and the indeterminate without differing from the previous old [views]. He further divided the gradual into three: before twelve years, clarifying the Tripiṭaka where seeing existence leads to attaining the path, called the teaching with characteristics; after twelve years up through the Lotus Sūtra, clarifying that seeing emptiness leads to attaining the path, called the teaching without characteristics; and finally at the Twin Trees, clarifying the buddha-nature of all sentient beings and that icchantikas become buddhas, clarifying the teaching of eternal abiding.
