10.55

眾家解教，種種不同，皆是當世之師，各各自謂有於深致。時既流播，義亦添雜，晚賢情執，苟諍紛紜，所以上來研難，次論去取，略知大意（云云）。

The various masters' interpretations of the teachings are diverse and varied; all were teachers of their contemporary age, each claiming to possess profound depths. As time passed, their meanings also became adulterated; later luminaries clung to their emotional attachments and engaged in clamorous disputes. For this reason, I have critically examined them above, and next discussed what to discard and what to adopt, so that the general import may be briefly known, and so forth.
