若以七種二諦歷五味教者：乳教有別、圓入別、圓，三種二諦，二麁一妙。酪教但實有二諦，純麁。生蘇具七種二諦，六麁一妙。熟蘇六種，五麁一妙。法華但有一圓二諦，無六方便，唯妙不麁。題標為妙，意在於此，是為相待判麁妙也。

If one traverses the teachings of the five flavors with the seven types of two truths: the milk teaching has three kinds of two truths—the distinctive, entering the distinctive from the perfect, and the perfect—consisting of two coarse and one subtle. The curd teaching has only the two truths of real existence, which is purely coarse. The butter teaching is complete with all seven types of two truths, six coarse and one subtle. The clarified butter [teaching] has six types, five coarse and one subtle. The Lotus [Sūtra] has only the single perfect two truths, devoid of the six expedient means, solely subtle and not coarse. The title is marked as 'subtle' precisely because the intention lies here; this is the evaluation of coarse and subtle through mutual opposition.
