Third, regarding the sequential arising: the object of the real aspect is not made by buddhas, gods, or humans; it exists inherently from the origin and is not something that has just now arisen. Therefore it is placed first of all. Confused about principle, one gives rise to delusions; understanding principle, one generates wisdom. Wisdom is the root of practice; conditioned by the eyes of wisdom, the feet of practice arise. The eyes, feet, and object—these three dharmas—constitute the vehicle. Riding upon this vehicle, one enters the cool pool and ascends to the various stages. Where do the stages dwell? They dwell within the secret treasury of the three dharmas. Having dwelled in this dharma, remaining quiet yet ever illuminating, one illuminates the capacities of the ten dharma realms; when capacities arrive, one inevitably responds. When proceeding toward capacities and descending to respond, one first employs the body-wheel, so that supernatural powers strike them with wonder. Having seen these transformations and powers, [and being] capable of receiving the path, one then employs the speech-wheel to proclaim, explain, inspire, and guide them. Having already been moistened by the rain of the Dharma, they receive the teaching, accept the path, and become the retinue of the Dharma. The retinue cultivates practices, uproots the root of birth and death, opens the vision and knowledge of the Buddha, and attains great benefit. The first five pertain to oneself, complete in cause and fruit; the latter five pertain to others, complete in agent and object. Although dharmas are limitless, the ten meanings are perfect in intention. From beginning to end, for self and other, all are completely realized.
