今更說五境，云何同異耶？十二因緣與十如開合者，名異故言開，義同故言合。無明支合如是性。行支合如是相。識、名色、六入、觸、受合如是體。愛合如是緣。取合如是力、作。有合如是因。生、老死合如是果、報等（云云）。

Now we further explain the five objects; how are they the same or different? As for the opening and merging of the twelve links of dependent origination and the ten suchnesses: because the names differ, it is called opening; because the meanings are identical, it is called merging. The link of ignorance merges with such nature. The link of karmic formations merges with such characteristic. Consciousness, name-and-form, the six sense bases, contact, and feeling merge with such substance. Craving merges with such condition. Grasping merges with such power and function. Existence merges with such cause. Birth and old age and death merge with such fruit and retribution, etc. (and so forth).
