3.74

約圓教釋者，七方便不聞故不知，未證故不見。五品、六根，聞故知，未證故不見。發宿習者名見，不從聞故不知。稟教證入者，亦知、亦見。此節節傳為麁妙。

Explaining in terms of the perfect teaching: the seven expedients do not hear and therefore do not know; they have not realized and therefore do not see. The five grades and six sense faculties, because they hear, know, but because they have not realized, do not see. Those who arouse past practice are called seeing; not following from hearing, they do not know. Those who receive the teachings and enter through realization both know and see. These stages progressively constitute the crude and the wonderful.
