4.117

第三天，名常恣意，十住處：一、名歡喜峯，昔救護神樹，及夜叉所依樹，有樹即樂，失樹即苦。二、名優鉢羅色，昔淨信持戒，供養三寶，造優鉢羅華池故。三、名分陀利，昔造此華池。四、名彩地，昔信淨心，為僧染治袈裟，雜色染治法服故。五、名質多羅，此翻雜地。昔以種種食，施持戒、不犯戒等人故。六、名山頂，昔修造屋，遮風寒，令人受用故。七、名摩偷，此翻美地。昔持戒，悲心質直，不惱人。食施道行沙門、婆羅門，或一日、或多日、或不息故。八、名欲境，昔持戒，若邪見人病，施其所安故。九、名清涼，昔見臨終渴病人，以石蜜漿，或冷水施病人故。十、名常遊戲，昔為坐禪人作房舍圖畫，作死屍觀故。

The third heaven is named Always Capricious, and has ten dwelling places: First is named Joyful Peak; in the past, [its denizens] protected sacred trees and trees depended upon by yakṣas, for having a tree brings joy and losing a tree brings suffering. Second is named Utpala-Colour; in the past, with pure faith they kept the precepts, made offerings to the Three Jewels, and constructed ponds of utpala flowers. Third is named Puṇḍarīka; in the past, they constructed ponds of such flowers. Fourth is named Variegated Ground; in the past, with faithful and pure minds, they dyed and prepared kāṣāyas for the Saṅgha, dyeing and preparing the Dharma robes in various colours. Fifth is named Citra, which translates as Variegated Ground; in the past, they gave various kinds of food to those who observed the precepts and did not violate them. Sixth is named Mountain Peak; in the past, they built houses to ward off wind and cold for people to use. Seventh is named Madhu, which translates as Pleasant Ground; in the past, keeping the precepts, with compassionate and straightforward minds that did not vex others, they gave food to itinerant śramaṇas and brāhmaṇas, whether for one day, many days, or without cessation. Eighth is named Desirable Realm; in the past, keeping the precepts, when persons of wrong view fell ill, they provided what brought them comfort. Ninth is named Coolness; in the past, seeing a thirsty patient on the verge of death, they gave the patient rock-sugar syrup or cold water. Tenth is named Constant Sport; in the past, they made dwellings and painted pictures for meditators to cultivate contemplation of corpses.
