4.172

復次，三乘人同發真無漏，若智、若斷，同名無生。而菩薩獨受無生法忍名者，以其見諦理、斷結使，不生取證之心，故別受無生法忍之名也。何者？若生取證之心，即墮二乘地，不得入菩薩第九地。

Furthermore, the persons of the three vehicles all manifest the real uncontaminated [wisdom], and whether in knowledge or in severance, it is equally called unproduced. Yet the bodhisattva alone receives the name "patience of the unproduced Dharma" because in seeing the principle of the truths and severing the entangling fetters, they do not produce the mind of grasping realization; hence they specifically receive the name of the patience of the unproduced Dharma. Why? If they were to produce the mind of grasping realization, they would immediately fall into the stages of the two vehicles and could not enter the ninth stage of the bodhisattva.
