6.154

往昔結圓教緣者，中間調熟，或得道、或未得道，今於分段作佛。先緣牽來，差別不同。若未得道，當處有一。上界向下，有二。他方橫來，有二。方便來，亦二。實報來，有一。例如前（云云）。

For those who formed connections through the perfect teaching in the past, having been seasoned and ripened in the interim, some have attained the Way and some have not. Now [the Buddha] appears as a buddha in fragmented [birth and death]. Drawn by past conditions, they differ. If they have not attained the Way, right in this place there is one [kind]. Descending from the higher realms, there are two. Coming horizontally from other regions, there are two. Coming from [the land of] expedients, there are also two. Coming from [the land of] true reward, there is one. The examples are as before (and so on).
