若論實道得益，兩處不殊，而權智事用，不得相比。喻如慧解脫、俱解脫，無漏不二，而功德優劣。前迹門得道，止齊無生法忍；本門得道，齊餘一生在，以塵為數，多小深淺，豈同於前？當揀彼文，從發心處即是六根淨位，乃至一生在，即是最後分真（云云）。

If one discusses obtaining benefit in the real path, in the two places there is no difference; but regarding the provisional wisdom and phenomenal functioning, they cannot be compared. By analogy with liberation by wisdom and liberation in both parts: their undefiled nature is not two, yet their merits are superior and inferior. Previously, attaining the path in the trace gate reached only as far as the forbearance of the non-arising of dharmas; attaining the path in the original source gate reaches to being separated by only one lifetime remaining, numbered as dust particles—in terms of quantity, depth, and shallowness, how could it be the same as before? One should examine that text: from the point of generating the mind, which is the stage of purity of the six sense faculties, up to being separated by one lifetime, which is the final partial realization (and so forth).
