7.236

譬如蓮子在淤泥中，而四微不朽，是名蓮子體。一切眾生正因佛性，亦復如是。常樂我淨，不動不壞，名佛界如是體。《大經》言：「是味真正停留在山，草木叢林不能覆滅。」即其義也。

For instance, like a lotus seed in the mire, yet its four subtle elements do not decay; this is called the lotus seed's substance. The direct-cause buddha-nature of all sentient beings is also like this: permanent, blissful, self, and pure, immovable and indestructible; this is called the buddha realm's suchness of substance. The Mahāparinirvāṇa-sūtra says, 'This taste is genuine and remains in the mountains; grasses, trees, and thickets cannot conceal or destroy it'—this is its meaning.
