Second, explaining contemplation through the translated categories: the mind is the source; the three meanings originate from the mind. All speech originates from the mind of coarse examination and subtle investigation; all practices originate from the volitional mind; all principles and meanings originate from the mind of wisdom. A sūtra says: "The liberation of the buddhas should be sought within the mental activities of sentient beings." The mind is the warp and weft: taking coarse examination as the warp and subtle investigation as the weft, it weaves speech. Furthermore, taking the mind of the practice of wisdom as the warp and the mind of the practice of action as the weft, it weaves all practices. Taking the mind's vertical alignment with principle as the warp and the mind's horizontal alignment with principle as the weft, it weaves principles and meanings (and so forth). Furthermore, taking the contemplated realm as the warp and the contemplating wisdom as the weft, examining and turning, it weaves all texts.
