問：凡夫觀心，何得用釋佛菩薩義？答：此經云「諸佛解脫當於眾生心行中求」。若執文字離心而求佛菩薩解脫者，可謂抱石投淵、夜遊去燭。

Question: How can an ordinary person's contemplation of mind be used to explain the meaning of buddhas and bodhisattvas?
Answer: This sūtra says: “The liberation of all buddhas is to be sought in the mental actions of sentient beings.” If one clings to the written word and seeks the liberation of buddhas and bodhisattvas apart from the mind, one may be said to embrace a stone and jump into an abyss, or to travel by night after discarding one’s torch.
