8.65

○二、廣簡偽者，夫正體玄絕，一往難知，又邪小之名，亂於正大，譬如魚目混雜明珠，故須簡偽。即為六意：一、就凡簡。二、就外簡。三、就小簡。四、就偏簡。五、就譬簡。六、就悟簡。

Second, broadly eliminating the spurious: the primary substance is profound and transcendent, difficult to know at first glance; furthermore, heterodox and inferior names cause confusion with what is correct and great, just as fish eyes are mixed among bright pearls; therefore, one must eliminate the spurious. There are six points: first, eliminating with respect to ordinary beings; second, eliminating with respect to non-Buddhists; third, eliminating with respect to the Hīnayāna; fourth, eliminating with respect to the biased; fifth, eliminating with respect to analogies; and sixth, eliminating with respect to awakening.
