9.98

遠師以一乘為宗，所謂妙法。引文云：「是乘微妙，為無有上。」私謂為破三故一，待麁非妙因，而不該始末。

Master [Hui]yuan took the eka-yāna as the central purport, the so-called wonderful Dharma. He cited the text: ‘This vehicle is subtle and wondrous, supreme and peerless.’ I personally say: being one for the sake of breaking the three is an expedient cause relative to the coarse and is not subtle, and it does not encompass beginning and end.
