As for the contemplation of the phenomenon of Acceptance: correctly contemplating the suffering of the desire realm, and the suffering of the form and formless realms; the arising of conditioned states in the desire realm, and the arising of conditioned states in the form and formless realms; the cessation of conditioned states in the desire realm, and the cessation of conditioned states in the form and formless realms; the path severing conditioned states in the desire realm, and the path severing conditioned states in the form and formless realms. These thirty-two moments of mind are called lower Acceptance. Afterward, the practitioner gradually reduces the aspects and objects: again correctly contemplating the suffering of the desire realm, the suffering of the form and formless realms, up to contemplating the path severing conditioned states in the desire realm, while eliminating contemplation of the path severing conditioned states in the form and formless realms; from this point it is called middle Acceptance. Again correctly contemplating the suffering of the desire realm, contemplating the suffering of the form and formless realms, up to contemplating the cessation of conditioned states in the form and formless realms, while eliminating the entire path. Again correctly contemplating the suffering of the desire realm, the suffering of the form and formless realms, up to contemplating the cessation of conditioned states in the desire realm, while eliminating the cessation of conditioned states in the form and formless realms. Again correctly contemplating the suffering of the desire realm, up to contemplating the arising of conditioned states in the form and formless realms, while eliminating all cessation. Again correctly contemplating the suffering of the desire realm, up to contemplating the arising of conditioned states in the desire realm, while eliminating the arising of conditioned states in the form and formless realms. Again correctly contemplating the suffering of the desire, form, and formless realms, while eliminating all arising. Again correctly contemplating the suffering of the desire realm, while eliminating the suffering of the form and formless realms. Again correctly contemplating the desire realm as constant, continuously unbroken, and unseparated. When contemplating thus, deep revulsion arises, and further reducing, one performs only two moments of mind contemplating a single aspect, resembling the acceptance of the phenomenon of suffering and the knowledge of the phenomenon of suffering. Such correct contemplation is called middle Acceptance. Then with one moment of mind contemplating the suffering of the desire realm, this is called upper Acceptance.
