Regarding contemplation with superior wisdom: one contemplates that feeling arises from contact, and so on up to formations arising from ignorance. Ignorance is merely a single thought of delusion in the mind. Because the mind is deluded, it branches out into afflictions; from afflictions, it branches out into various karmas; from karmas, it branches out into various sufferings. One contemplates these afflictions as having different species; because they are different, karmas are different; because karmas are different, sufferings are different. Formations are manifold, and name-and-form are distinct. The various three paths are immeasurable and boundless, distinct without confusion. One knows that due to this affliction, this karma arises and this suffering is received, unrelated to that karma or that affliction. In this way, the three paths cover and obstruct the three virtues. The skillful means for destroying these obstructions are also immeasurable. If ignorance is destroyed, prajñā is revealed; if karma is destroyed, liberation is revealed; if consciousness and name-and-form are destroyed, the dharma-kāya is revealed. Craving, grasping, becoming, and old age and death are also like this. Having understood this oneself, one can also transform others. Knowing all dharmas in all their species, one gives rise to the wisdom of the paths and guides and benefits sentient beings. This is called contemplating the twelvefold conditioned co-arising with superior wisdom.
