If one enters the first dwelling, attaining the dhāraṇī of the true sound of Dharma, directly destroying ignorance, it is first named the path of severing. Seeing the constantly abiding paramārtha principle of Buddha-nature is called the patience of the non-arising of dharmas in the perfect teaching. The ten practices, the ten dedications of merit, the ten grounds, and equal enlightenment all destroy ignorance and are equally stages of the patience of the non-arising of dharmas. At marvelous enlightenment, the path of severing is complete and ultimate fulfillment is reached; this is named the patience of quiescent extinction.
