Furthermore, the Mahāyāna and Hīnayāna sūtras explain that when the Buddha enters the King Samādhi, emits light, and expounds the Dharma, those suffering the retributive pains of the good and evil destinies obtain benefit: as explained in the Āgamas, seeing the Buddha's light and receiving the touch of the Buddha's hand, the afflictions and suffering of the six destinies are completely eradicated. Furthermore, the Pañcaviṃśati says: Emitting light illuminating the sentient beings in hell, their afflictions and suffering are immediately eradicated, and they are born as high as the sixth heaven. Eradication of suffering is the benefit of the result; birth in heaven is the benefit of the cause. The Pañcaviṃśati calls this the benefit of flowers and leaves. Furthermore, when the Buddha emits light, the dark and obscure places all become brightly illuminated, and each produces this thought: "How is it that sentient beings have suddenly been born here?" This too is the benefit of the result. These benefits of cause and result can universally be conferred by the buddhas of the four teachings.
