Third, in terms of buddha wisdom and non-buddha wisdom: If existence is taken as a gate, discriminating all-knowledge, one penetrates empty dharmas; discriminating knowledge of the aspects of the path, one illuminates buddha dharmas numerous as the sands of the Ganges. When these are distinguished as different, this is the wisdom of the bodhisattva, which is the characteristic of the four distinctive gates. If existence is taken as a gate, discriminating the knowledge of all aspects, fully endowed with the five eyes, perfectly illuminating the dharma realm with correct and universal knowledge, this is the wisdom of all buddhas, which is the characteristic of the four perfect gates. Furthermore, the distinctive gates speaking of perfect wisdom, or the perfect gates speaking of distinctive wisdom, whether earlier or later, differentiates the distinctive and perfect characteristics, by analogy with the preceding (and so forth). Furthermore, the distinctive gates realizing perfect wisdom, or the perfect gates realizing distinctive wisdom, whether earlier or later, differentiates the distinctive and perfect, as differentiated before (and so forth).
