「樂說辯」如《止觀》第一記。「晝夜」等者，舉譬也。如懸河流瀉晝夜不竭。此之十德通舉悟解弘經之相，故初德云「自解佛乘」，最後德云「晝夜流瀉」。諸有託胎靈瑞誕育徵祥，髫齓精誠從師訪道，臣主珍敬緇素歸心，臨終示相滅後應驗，具如《別傳》。

'Eloquence of delight in speech' is as recorded in the first roll of the Zhiguan. 'Day and night' and so forth provides a metaphor: like a hanging torrent flowing down, day and night without ceasing. These ten virtues together present the aspects of his awakening, understanding, and propagation of the sūtra; thus the first virtue says 'personally understood the Buddha vehicle', and the final virtue says 'day and night flowing down'. As for his miraculous portents at conception, auspicious omens at birth, sincere devotion in childhood inquiring into the Path from masters, reverence from ministers and rulers, devotion from clergy and laity, manifestation of signs near death, and verifications after decease, they are detailed in the Separate Biography.
