初序分二：初序師德，次「幸哉」下明傳述之意。初文又二：初列十德，次「唯我」下結歸我師。

The initial preface is divided into two: first, prefacing the master's virtues; next, from 'Fortunate indeed' downward, clarifying the intention of transmission. The first passage also has two parts: first, listing the ten virtues; next, from 'Only our' downward, concluding by attributing them to our master.
