「發悟」者，謂於大蘇法華道場三昧開發悟解一乘，代受法師，講金字《大品》。「陀羅尼」者，此云總持。從三昧起以證白師，師云此是法華前方便陀羅尼。

'Awakened' means that at the Lotus practice hall on Mount Dasu, through the unfolding of samādhi, he awakened to and understood the one vehicle, and on behalf of his master, lectured on the gold-lettered Large Perfection of Wisdom Sūtra. 'Dhāraṇī' is translated here as 'total retention'. Rising from samādhi, he reported his verification to his master; the master said this was the preliminary expedience dhāraṇī of the Lotus Sūtra.
