Part 4, "Opening," has two [parts]: first, opening the Tripiṭaka and the practices within the Tripiṭaka; next, drawing comparisons with the two teachings. This also has two [parts]: first, drawing comparisons; next, reiterating minor goods. Since the four practices are all universally practiced across the four teachings, one should know that practices themselves cannot express the principle; one must only establish contemplation to illuminate the principle and guide practice, and only then can practice be made to reach the correct realm. Therefore one knows that without the principle, it is useless asceticism. If there are no practices, the principle will certainly not be manifested. Hence the three—teaching, practice, and principle—rely on each other to be manifested, mutually illuminating and adorning, mutually guiding and fulfilling each other. All practitioners cannot fail to understand this.
