前是自行隨用一門，後為化他，是故行中更習前八，是故十六俱須廣習。
The former is for one's own practice, employing any one gate according to need; the latter is for transforming others, and therefore in the practices one further cultivates the previous eight; hence all sixteen must be extensively practiced.
