Second, under "benefit and non-benefit," it first outlines the intent, and next separately explains their thickness and thinness. First, in terms of adopting and employing, there are two parts: first the explanation, and next, from "Cannot" onward, the conclusion. The first text has two parts: the metaphor and the application. The next text has two parts: first concluding by means of the metaphor, and next, from "A partial" onward, explaining the intent of the metaphor. The first text also has two parts: first the metaphor, and next the application. The application also has two parts: first the direct application, and next, from "Regarding the small" onward, affixing the metaphor to the application. Next, in the intent of the metaphor, where it says "a partial metaphor cannot be sought in its entirety": taking the Avataṃsaka as milk merely takes [the fact that] capacities are raw and not yet able to enter the Mahāyāna, and furthermore it was preached at the very beginning of the five flavors; therefore the Avataṃsaka partially serves as a metaphor for the first flavor, but does not capture the suddenness of the Avataṃsaka, or the characteristics of the sequence of the five flavors present in both the Separate and Perfect teachings, or the indefinite, the secret, and so forth. Next, in evaluating by the metaphor of the skilled physician, there are three parts: first the metaphor; next, from "The Buddha is also like this" onward, the application; third, from "If this" onward, the conclusion. Within the conclusion there are two parts: first concluding the meaning of expansion and contraction; next, from "This adopts" onward, concluding the intent of employing the metaphor. It is not that thick flavor is milk and thin flavor is curd; hence we know it takes the sequential generation as the metaphor: full employment is at the beginning, so it is like milk; contracted employment is next, so it is like curd.
