約教者，如《增一阿含》云：「優留毘能將護四眾，供給四事令無所乏，最為第一；那提比丘心意寂然，降伏諸結，精進最第一；伽耶比丘觀了諸法，都無所著，善能教化，為最第一。」是為酪教中意。若轉入生蘇，即應耻小慕大，例則可知；若轉入熟蘇，即應委業領教；若轉入醍醐，如此經中得記作佛也。

Explaining according to the teachings: as the Ekottarāgama states: "Uruvilvā is able to look after the fourfold assembly, providing the four requisites so they lack nothing, foremost among all; Nadī-bhikṣu has a quiescent mind and thoughts, subdues all fetters, and is foremost in vigorous exertion; Gayā-bhikṣu contemplates and comprehends all dharmas with no attachment whatsoever, is skilled in teaching and converting, foremost among all." This is the purport within the curd teaching. If transferring into raw butter, they should be ashamed of the small and yearn for the great, which can be understood by analogy; if transferring into clarified butter, they should be entrusted with the work and accept the teaching; if transferring into ghee, it is like this sūtra, where they receive the prediction of becoming buddhas.
