本迹者，本住真際首楞嚴定，能於一念遍應十方，種種示現施作佛事；以慈悲故，迹為五味神通，引令入極（云云）。

Regarding origin and traces: In origin, he abides in the true limit and the Śūraṅgama Samādhi, able in a single thought to respond universally throughout the ten directions, manifesting in various ways to perform Buddha works. Out of compassion, in his traces he manifests the supernatural powers of the five flavors to lead [beings] to enter the ultimate (and so on).
