Third, confirming embarking: this is the Tathāgata citing the superior to confirm and complete the inferior, increasing the practitioner's courage and sharpness in broadly propagating. First, he confirms protecting the Dharma, saying: you are able in this way externally to benefit much, and internally to amass compassion; moreover, for long kalpas past you have provided such protection; I too protect this Dharma with the Buddha's divine power, how much more so should you? As in the text. From "if there is a person" downward, he confirms his protection of persons; although not in order, the intent of confirming and completing is complete. "One should know that this person sees Śākyamuni Buddha" confirms his manifesting his body to teach the Dharma: they even see my fruitional body of myriad virtues, how much more your six-tusked white elephant in the causal stage? They even hear the sūtra in full from the Buddha's mouth, how much more your teaching the forgotten sentences and phrases? They are even praised by the Buddha's mouth, stroked by his hand, and covered by the Buddha's robe, how much more being covered by your dhāraṇī of a causal person? From "not coveting worldly pleasures" downward confirms his citing causes. It extensively cites that in the causal stage one is free from all faults, having few desires and knowing contentment to cultivate the practices of Samantabhadra, confirming the superior causes. From "if after the Tathāgata's parinirvāṇa" downward confirms his citing proximate effects. That person will approach the bodhimaṇḍa and surely achieve the distant effect, how much more the proximate effects? In the present life they will also attain its proximate effects, not merely being born in heaven. From "if a person disparages" downward confirms his ability to ward off external difficulties. The Buddha extensively demonstrates the offenses of disparagers to make them know their faults and surely reform without causing disturbance: not only are the difficulties of the sūtra-upholder extinguished, but also blessings arise for those who wished to disparage; without disparagement and without difficulties, both are at ease; broad salvation without bias is the utmost of compassion. From "one should rise to welcome them from afar, as if revering the Buddha" confirms his concluding the merits of believers.
