從「臨欲終時」下，雙明信、毀果報。初文為二：一、明果報，二、結會古今。信者論三報，現得六根清淨，生值燈明佛，後值二千億佛。「神通力」是身業淨，「樂說辯力」是口業淨，「善寂力」是意業淨（云云）。結會又二：初、結會，如文；從「若我宿世」下，第二，是舉信者而勸順也，如文。從「彼時四眾」下，明毀者果報，又二：先明得果，後結古今。毀者得善惡兩果，謗故墮惡，聞佛性名毒鼓之力獲善果報。結古今又二：初、結古今，次從「當知」下，舉逆以顯順，勸持以遮毀。經有大力終感大果，務當勤習五種之行。

From 'when he was about to die' onward, it clarifies jointly the retributions for faith and disparagement. The first text has two parts: first, clarifying the retributions; second, uniting the past and the present. Regarding the faithful one, three retributions are discussed: in the present, attaining the purity of the six faculties; in the next birth, encountering the Lamp Brightness Buddha; and subsequently, encountering two thousand billion buddhas. 'The power of supernatural penetration' is the purity of bodily karma; 'the power of delight in eloquent debate' is the purity of verbal karma; and 'the power of good quiescence' is the purity of mental karma (and so forth). Uniting them also has two parts: first, uniting them in accordance with the text; second, from 'if in my past lives' onward, adducing the faithful one to encourage compliance, in accordance with the text. From 'at that time, the fourfold assembly' onward, it clarifies the retribution of the disparagers, which also has two parts: first, clarifying the attainment of retribution; later, uniting the past and the present. The disparagers attained both good and bad retributions: due to slandering, they fell into evil realms; having heard the name of buddha-nature, through the power of the poisoned drum, they obtained a good retribution. Uniting the past and the present also has two parts: first, uniting the past and the present; next, from 'it should be known' onward, adducing opposition to reveal compliance, encouraging upholding to block disparagement. Because the sūtra possesses great power, it ultimately elicits a great fruit; one must diligently practice the five kinds of conduct.
