已如《玄義》，若言四花俱從天雨，表四眾當同成一因，如此釋者，出三藏義未出通義；若言四眾同是菩薩因者，此釋出通義，未出別義；並非佛因，皆非《法華》意也。《法華》意如前說。

This is already as explained in the Xuanyi. If one says that the four flowers all rain from the heavens to represent the four assemblies together completing a single cause, such an explanation brings out the meaning of the Tripiṭaka but does not bring out the meaning of the shared [teaching]; if one says that the four assemblies are together the bodhisattva cause, this explanation brings out the meaning of the shared [teaching] but does not bring out the meaning of the distinctive [teaching]; neither is the Buddha-cause, and neither is the intention of the Lotus [Sūtra]. The intention of the Lotus [Sūtra] is as stated before.
