「普佛世界地六種動」者，舊云動三乘人因果決定六執者，此破三藏家三乘六執，未破通教三乘六執。通教約法，三人因果同，若約人，三人因果異，此之同異俱被破，而舊家破意不破此也。別教無三乘名則無六執，舊所不破。今明別家因時三法縱橫，果時三法亦縱橫，此則須破。今釋地六種動，表圓家六番破無明，無明磬礴未曾侵毀，方將破壞，故動地以表之，無明若轉即變為明，故普佛世界六種震動也。六種表住、行、向、地、等、妙六番也。《優婆塞清淨行經》云：「菩薩生時動地，示此生已盡無復煩惱，一切眾生應得道者，煩惱將滅故動。」即此義也。

Regarding "the earth of all buddha worlds shook in six ways": The former [commentators] said it shakes the six attachments to fixed causes and fruits of the persons of the three vehicles. This refutes the six attachments of the three vehicles belonging to the Tripiṭaka school, but does not refute the six attachments of the three vehicles of the shared teaching. In the shared teaching, in terms of phenomena, the cause and fruit of the three persons are identical; in terms of persons, the cause and fruit of the three persons are different. Both this identity and difference are refuted, yet the refutation of the former commentators did not refute this. In the distinctive teaching, since there are no names of three vehicles, there are no six attachments, which were not refuted by the former [commentators]. Now we clarify that in the distinctive school, at the time of cause the three dharmas are horizontal and vertical, and at the time of fruit the three dharmas are also horizontal and vertical; these, then, must be refuted. Now, explaining the earth shaking in six ways: it represents the six rounds of breaking ignorance in the perfect school. Ignorance was densely consolidated and had never been breached; now it is about to be shattered, so the shaking of the earth is used to represent it. When ignorance is transformed, it becomes illumination; therefore the earth of all buddha worlds shook in six ways. The six kinds represent the six rounds of the abodes, practices, dedications, stages, equal [enlightenment], and sublime [enlightenment]. The Upāsaka-viśuddhi-cariyā Sūtra says: "When the bodhisattva was born, the earth shook, showing that this birth was completed and defilements would no longer exist; for all sentient beings who ought to attain the path, defilements were about to be extinguished, hence it shook." This is precisely the meaning.
